Fallon and Tyler’s Festive Celebration
Fallon and Tyler’s DC wedding at AutoShop is the perfect example to show that stylish and chic don’t have to be all neutral. Their super colorful and incredibly unique wedding was an excellent show of fashion, amazing design, and modern decor.
It was a beautiful and fun event, and I am so excited to share the images.
The Location
Fallon and Tyler are a DC couple who wanted a wedding that shared their absolute adoration for all things DC. They had a lot of out-of-town guests and wanted to highlight this city that they love so much.
The couple chose to host their wedding at AutoShop, which is exactly what you would guess — a venue situated in a former auto body shop. It is quite the venue; it holds up to 150 guests sitting and 400 standing, offers flexible layout plans for weddings, and even has an outdoor area. Its modern yet simple design makes it easy to customize the venue to whatever you desire.
The venue is located in the heart of the Union Market District which is in the NoMa area of DC (just north of the Library of Congress). This market is a community-focused food hall that is so much more than just restaurants, shops, arts, and entertainment. They focus on authentic, multicultural experiences in a historic location.
It was a fitting location for Fallon and Tyler to choose. The couple was very intentional about making everything surrounding their wedding DC-focused. They intentionally chose all DC vendors and picked a location that was central to everything in the city. They even hosted their rehearsal dinner at the Colada Shop which is a locally-owned Cuban cafe.
Their focus and intentionality definitely gave the wedding a special feeling.
The Details
As I already said, this wedding was colorful and fun — and it all started with the stationary.
Fallon and Tyler choose teal green and orange, with accents of pale pink for their colors. It was a unique combination that absolutely worked. The stationary, by Jeannette Pidi Design, was simple yet bold.
Fallon’s gown was by Elegance by Roya. It was a white, satin trumpet cut that fit the modern affair perfectly. Since Fallon is a shoe girlie, like yours truly, her shoes were absolute statement pieces. Her strappy shoes were by Aquazzura and were a fun teal color. But better than the color were the disco balls on the ends of the heels. It was funky, frivolous, and a great way to show off her style.
Her florals were by Steel Cut Flowers, a local florist with an astonishingly unique approach to florals. The orange, purple, red, and yellow blooms were statement pieces that really stood out and gave a pop of big personality to the event. Fallon and her bridal party’s bouquets were whimsical and eclectic, but not so full as to be overwhelming. With the color, they could be simple and not be overpowering.
For favors, the couple gave away cute little bottles of hot sauce.
The AutoShop Wedding
Getting Ready
The couple and their wedding party got ready at the ultra-modern, super elegant The Conrad Hotel which is located in downtown DC. Its floor-to-ceiling windows allow for beautiful light (hello getting ready images) and also allow for amazing views of the city.
They had a super sweet first look on the roof of the hotel, complete with funky sunglasses and a bottle of champagne.
The Ceremony
The ceremony was an ultra-modern, candle-lit ceremony. Instead of an arbor or arch, Fallon and Tyler went with elaborate floral installations. Steelcut Flower, Inc did an amazing job creating distinctive and eclectic arrangements. It was super memorable and I highly recommend this to anyone wanting an alternative to the traditional ceremony.
The Reception
Cheers Darling Event Planners and Steelcut Flower, Inc did a stunning job with the rehearsal decor. With the black and white tables and black dinnerware, the colorful blooms strewn throughout gave a very powerful effect.
Hosting Your Own DC Wedding at the AutoShop
Here is my top advice for hosting your own wedding at Autoshop.
Keep It Local
Like Fallon and Tyler, keep it local. The area is such a thriving, local, yet multicultural, community that it only makes sense to host a wedding that keeps with the same mindset.
Plus, there are so many amazing caterers to choose from, some are even located right in the market.
The Space
One of the great things about the space is how diverse it is; it is a blank space so to speak. You really can make it anything you want. From modern and classic to funky and colorful, like Fallon and Tyler’s wedding, the options are limitless.
Explore the City
If a lot of your guests are traveling to the area, you should consider planning some activities with your guests. DC is such an amazing city and there are so many amazing things to share. Think about where your favorite places to go, eat, and play are, and then consider hosting welcome dinners or brunches there. You can always plan tours or outings at special places as well.
Your Photographer
If you are looking for a photographer with a modern but edgy style, I would love to chat. I love photographing local weddings for couples with a deep appreciation for the beauty, energy, and style of this amazing city. Reach out today to schedule a time to talk and we can go from there!
