One of the biggest questions that I get from my future brides is what to bring on their wedding day to get these jaw-dropping wedding day detail shots. While I have an entire page in my Wedding Guide devoted to explain any and every thing that you could bring for your detail shots, here are a few of my favorite classic staples for fine art wedding day detail photos.
All About the Men
First of all, don’t forget to plan for classic groom details. Although the groom and groomsmen routinely get ready for a wedding day in a different part of the wedding venue than the bride, and also often during a different time of the wedding day timeline, it’s still important to make sure that the groom has plenty of details for a strong detail shot. In addition to the traditional groom’s shoes, a tie or bowtie, and cufflinks, it’s also fun to include a meaningful bottle of scotch or bourbon, and maybe a significant shirt or vest for a creative backdrop!
Paper Goods and Creative Details
Whether it’s a wedding invitation suite, a collection of wedding programs, or any other detail that plays a part in your wedding day celebration, there has likely been countless hours of thought and deliberation that went into selecting and planning it. For that reason, I encourage my couples to make sure that all of their wedding day details are set aside for special stylized detail shots before their wedding ceremony, so that every elegant detail can be captured and remembered as a part of their wedding photography gallery. If you’re bringing your wedding invitation suite for photographs, consider bringing two copies for items that have a front and a back. The same goes for welcome bags – bring two for your wedding photographer, so that they can have one to place in the photo and one to pull the items out of for detail photos.
Bridal Details
And finally, the typical wedding flatly photos come from a collection of bridal details. Although every bride will likely have her shoes, ring, and earrings with her when getting ready on her wedding day, and few other special details can easily make for some truly creative wedding detail photos. Any special wedding day items, like elegant bottles of perfume or special pieces of jewelry, always make for beautiful additions to styled bridal detail photos. Additionally, any items that hold emotional significance to the bride because of either family history or significance to her relationship to her future spouse can add a special touch to these pre-ceremony photographs.
