There’s something about golden light on the water that makes everything feel like a love letter, and Blair and Patrick’s Cape Cod engagement session was full of it. I started the evening with them on dry land, their sweet dachshund in tow, wandered through hydrangea-lined streets, and ended up barefoot on a sailboat as the sun dropped into the bay. If you’re picturing the most idyllic New England summer evening, you’re not far off.
An Ice Cream Date with Their Sweetest Third Wheel
I couldn’t resist starting things off with their pup, who was very interested in Blair’s ice cream cone and even more interested in being held the entire time. Cape Cod’s weathered shingle cottages made the perfect backdrop for this easy, laughing kind of love.

Hydrangea-Lined Streets
Cape Cod in July means hydrangeas everywhere you look, and I made sure to capture every bit of it. Blair and Patrick strolled hand in hand past blooms in every shade of blue and pink, stopping for a kiss (with their pup wedged right in the middle, of course).

A Grand Staircase Moment
A quick stop at a sweeping white staircase gave me one of my favorite frames of the night, classic, timeless, and so very Cape Cod.

Setting Sail at Sunset
This is where the evening really opened up. I joined them aboard a sailboat and let the golden hour do its thing, champagne popped, hair blowing in the wind, foreheads pressed together at the bow. Watching these two together on the water, completely at ease and clearly so in love, was the best part of my whole week.

Barefoot on the Beach
As the sun dipped low, I followed them down to the beach for one last chapter: bare feet in the sand, the pier stretching out behind them, and Patrick spinning Blair around just because he could.

Blair and Patrick, thank you for such a golden evening on the Cape. I cannot wait for what’s next. If you’re planning your own engagement session and want photos that feel this much like you, I’d love to hear from you.
